Etruscopolis: Once Were Etruscans

Explore Etruscan Civilization

Quick Details

Explore the History of the Etruscans in Etruscopolis

Departing from the port of Civitavecchia, this tour take you to Etruscopolis, an ancient Etruscan quarry dating back to the 4th century BC. It extends for 15.000 square meters underground. It is an authentic artistic masterpiece that tries to defeat the corroding and fading of this civilization with the passage of time!

Step back into the past amid decorated tombs, houses, and scenes of everyday life, all faithfully reproduced by the contemporary artist Omero, known as ‘the last Etruscan.’ In the large museum area of Etruscopolis, Etruscan-inspired vases and bronzes are created, continuing the artistic traditions of this ancient civilization.

The artist Omero has managed to discover the secret of archaic paste and ancient manufacturing techniques so that his creations are considered authentic. For this reason, due to their strong resemblance to the original objects, they are sold with a certificate attesting to their origins in museums such as the British Museum or the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Etruscopolis represents a double provocation: it challenges the time that passes and the people who forget! After approximately three hours, you go to the historic center of Tarquinia to have lunch in a typical trattoria with organic products, and then you can spend time looking around Tarquinia!
